The Greastet Temple in Tokyo!
Senso-ji is the oldest temple in Tokyo and is also called "Senso Kannon" as its principle image is that of Kannon. Kannon is said to get rid of visitors' troubles, and to make their wishes come true.
You should also be sure to check out "Kaminarimon", the large vermillion gateway which marks the main entrance to the temple. Passing through there will take you straight to Nakamise Street, which has shops lining the pathway that leads up to the main hall. Senso-ji is one of Tokyo's most famous landmarks, and is visited by a lot of people from both Japan and overseas.
We recommend you to visit early in the morning if you want to avoid the crowd, but we also recommend you to visit in the evening when Senso-ji is lit up!
*The main temple is open from 6 am to 5 pm, but you can enter the precincts at any time.
